Games Released on October 2008

It’s the end of October 2008 and gamers have plenty of PC and console games to play. There were several games that I looked forward to on this months. Bolded titles are my favorite picks.

Fallout 3 – PS3, 360, PC

Vault 101 – Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you’ve ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.[S]

Astro Messed Up this morning?

Okay, it’s 4.20AM right now and Astro is acting up! When I turn the decoder on I can see the info being displayed but no video and sound! When I tune into the radio channels I can hear the music. So strange and I am going to miss the Arsenal v Tottenham derby match! OMG WHY! I even turned off the decoder switch, removed the smart card and put it back and turn it on but still can’t watch any channel on Astro.

Now I’m being forced to follow the match via Soccernet‘s Live Commentary text update 😦

Anyone else having this problem? Help!

and the result is 4-4

Dragon Ball Live Action Clip!

A brand new to me Dragonball clip has surfaced online. And it’s a whole 16 seconds long! That’s right, get ready for 16 seconds of nothing awesome at all. This should help prepare you for the entire 90 minutes of nothing awesome at all when this “movie” hits theaters.

Latino Review

ITS OVER 9000!!!! milliseconds ><

More info on Dragonball The Movie website.

Windows 7 UI & WLM Wave 3 Unleashed!

First, some demos on the UI from PDC using Windows 7 build 6933.winmain.081020-1842.

Very buggy demonstration on a Touch Screen application for Windows 7.

Different colors for different application when hovering your mouse in the taskbar. Is there even a point in doing this? Cool effect but lower specs PCs will cry.

Attention Please! Malay ver.

I just finished watching a Malay drama on Astro Ria called “Awan Dania” or Dania’s Cloud in English :S . Scheduled on every Monday since 20th October at 9.05 PM meaning the second episode out of 13 I watched was a repeat. Judging from only 15minutes of what I manage to accidentally switched to Astro Ria, I swear that this drama is a clone of Attention Please! A popular Japanese drama starring Aya Ueto

Let’s compare Attention’s Please! synopsis with Awan Dania.

Losing her mother at a young age, Misaki Yoko (Ueto Aya) was raised amongst three brothers. Yoko is a slightly boyish girl who is bullheaded and hates dishonesty. Ever since she was young, she enjoyed the company of boys over girls. She starts a band with four of her boy friends and becomes the lead singer. Then one day, one of the members of the band, Tsukasa, gets a job at a bank in Tokyo. Due to Tsukasa leaving town, the band breaks up and though Yoko finds herself lonely, she puts on a strong act in front of Tsukasa. She can’t tell Tsukasa how she truly feels for him. On the day Tsukasa leaves for Tokyo, Yoko goes along with the band members to the airport to see him off. The guys get excited when they see some cabin crew ladies and Yoko has no idea why. She reminds them that even she can wear a uniform, but the guys only make fun of her. That’s when Tsukasa tells Yoko he wonders what she’d look like dressed in uniform. This is when Yoko decides she wants to work as a Cabin Attendant.

Far Cry 2 Hotfix Benchmarks

ATI has released Catalyst 8.10 Hotfix driver for Far Cry 2 on the 18th October 2008. Notes can be found here.

This Hotfix improves performance for the DirectX 9 version of Far Cry 2 on CrossFireâ„¢ compatible systems.
This Hotfix also improves performance for the DirectX 10 version of Far Cry 2 on both single and CrossFireâ„¢ compatible systems.

I didn’t post about this earlier because I just got the game yesterday.

Far Cry 2 gameplay revolves around the player character’s quest for the notorious Jackal, a war supporting weapons dealer, through a fictional region of Africa and is open-ended, with the player being able to ally with anyone he/she chooses. The player’s choices are completely unfettered, giving a sandbox style of gameplay and allowing the story to progress at the speed the player chooses.[7][dubious ]The player can choose from a wide range of weapons to make his way to the target, accomodating play styles ranging from head-on assaults to stealthy infiltrations. Instead of using individual maps, the game takes place in a sprawling African landscape, with terrain ranging from savannah to jungle.[8] The gameplay area is 50 km2 (20 sq miles).

It had mixed results. Some say the gameplay is boring with repetitive quests or something like STALKER. Another said the graphic compared to Crysis is very mediocre. I’ve not played the game yet but have gone through the intro. Meaning I am not able to comment much about it as of now. Anyway, lets get to the point and do some benchmarks using the included Far Cry 2 benchmark’s tool.

KFC Not so FastFood ?

A couple of days ago, after work I felt kind of hungry and went to KFC at Kota Damansara for a late supper.  Since it was already late, arrived 11pm there I used the Drive-thru service thinking that I could get my food fast and get back home as soon as possible. There were only 2 cars infront of me so that shouldn’t take long right? I was dead wrong.

Each car took like 10-15minutes and when it was finally my turn it was already 11.30pm. While waiting, I turned off the air-con, lights and wind down my car door window because my petrol was almost gone >.< I didn’t even take the menu and just ordered 2 Meltz combo meal as soon as I saw the cashier’s face. The first thing I got was my 2 Pepsi, a few minutes later 2 Cheezy Wedges, ok so far so good yeah. After that the cashier told me to wait at the front parking lot for the 2 Meltz. Asked here how long and she said 5 minutes. WTF why can’t you tell me before handing out those stuff to me so I could order something else. TERRIBLE. Fortunately the 2 Meltz did arrive 5 minutes later! In the end it took 45minutes just to get my 2 Meltz combo meal.

I am not sure why KFC at Kota Damansara Drive-thru service is very slow. This isn’t the first time. Previously the cashier forgot to put napkin paper in and before that I had to asked them for the sauces and also have them separate the 4 chickens into 2 boxes. WTF man, I ordered two 2 pieces of Hot & Spicy chickens and you were trying to be a cheapskate by putting 4 chickens inside 1 box. Seriously, the next time if I ever going to eat anything from KFC, I’ll just go to the one at TTDI or buy something at McDonald.

Oh and I got my external harddisk back! Time to update my WoW but 1.2 gb OMG?
